England 4-0 Andorra: Three Lions Score Three Late Goals After Slow Start

After a slow start, England exploded for three second half goals to finally beat Andorra and progress to the next stage of Euro 2016. The Three Lions were dominant in possession and outplayed the home team, but their finishing let them down.

Everyone knows about the big tournament, the World Cup. But do you know there are also friendly international matches? On Tuesday, England took on Andorra in a tournament game, and the Three Lions scored three late goals to put the game away.

Andorra became weary, and Lingard scored his second and England’s third goal with a low shot that eluded Andorra goalkeeper Josep Gomes.

Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka, whose last Wembley experience was missing the crucial penalty in England’s Euro 2024 Final defeat to Italy, celebrated his 20th birthday by scoring with a beautiful header five minutes from time in a moment welcomed with genuine delight throughout Wembley.

Bellingham is a model citizen.

Individual and team performances in England must be molded by the backdrop of an Andorran opponent that is presently ranked 156th in the world, sandwiched between New Caledonia and the Dominican Republic.

What is certain, though, is that England has a real emerging star in the form of 18-year-old Jude Bellingham of Borussia Dortmund.

The teenager, who started his career at Birmingham City before joining Dortmund to join England teammate and current Manchester United signing Jadon Sancho, exemplifies excellence in all he does.

While the opponent may be low in the rankings, Bellingham has looked very calm and at ease in an England jersey in almost every international match he has played.

He then glided about appearing unflustered and a cut above everyone else on the field until he was pulled from the action by Southgate after one early sleight of foot had the Wembley fans on its feet in admiration.

Bellingham was hailed as a kid destined for greatness as soon as he rose to prominence at Birmingham, and he has done nothing since to dispel the widespread belief that England has a world-class player on its hands.

Lingard and Saka are overjoyed.

Lingard’s opportunities at Manchester United this season may be limited, but his bright and breezy presence, as well as two goals, rewarded manager Southgate’s confidence in his ability to contribute significantly to England’s World Cup qualifying campaign.

Saka’s return home to make England’s win more more convincing was a source of genuine joy late in the game.

When Saka missed the last penalty in the shootout as England lost the Euro 2024 final at Wembley in July, he was heartbroken, and he was subjected to heinous racial abuse in the wake.

Since then, the Arsenal kid has been received with real affection even on rival grounds, and his name has been greeted with thunderous applause at Wembley.

Bukayo Saka scored his second goal for England, and his first at Wembley Stadium.

When Saka scored the fourth goal, it was the ideal ending for Saka and England.

His pleasure was mirrored in his teammates’ reactions, who ran to join him in a display of genuine gladness for their little teammate.
